Is it me or are Chileans and Uruguayans different from the rest of Latin America?

Author: admin  //  Category: sound engineer london

When I visited Chile and Uruguay I noticed they were different than the rest of Latin America. They didn't go out to clubs a lot, it was more about bars, lounges, and pubs. The cities were not as festive as the ones in Brazil, Mexico or Colombia. The people were interested in things likes science, economics and politics. Most of the college students I met were studying engineering or economics.
The most festive people I met in Chile were the Peruvian immigrants! The town in Southern Chile looked like little Swiss towns. I mean the country did not have that Latin flavor at all. The closest I got to Latin was with immigrants from other Latin countries or the youth who listened to a bit regaeton. Most of the musical acts sounded funky like Red Hot Chili Peppers or British like Artic Monkeys. The style in Chile is more London-esque. It's weird. There was hardly any salsa music, a little cumbia but not much like its neighboring nations.
Your thoughts.

Uruguay, Chile, and Argentina, the Southern Cone, are demographically different from most of Latin America. The population is mostly of European ancestry. The Indians were killed off rather quickly, and there were only a few slaves. Historically, they've been the most prosperous of Latin American countries. As such they attracted large numbers of European immigrants, who brought their own culture. What we think of as Latino culture is mix of Spanish and Indian cultures. The Swiss looking towns you saw were probably inhabited by Swiss or German immigrants and their descendants.

Jews of Iraq? What about them?

Author: admin  //  Category: sound engineer london

No matter if in Iraq or other places. All people need respect.

Remeber Lennon sing: IMAGINE.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky

Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too

Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say,
I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day
You'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say,
I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day
You'll join us
And the world will be as one.

What Record Studio Would You Recommend For Death Metal Music?

Author: admin  //  Category: sound engineer london

Right, i'm looking for a recording studio to record at with my death metal band, we live in London and travelling dead far would be a problem but may be manageable. Anyway, we're looking for a studio that's relatively cheap £250-300/8 hour day and that has good sound engineers who can capture our music well. (We're not only going to record for a day by the way if you assumed)

Any ideas?

Dude do what Sabeth did, record it yourself. Thats exactly what they did, and the album started a revoltion called HEAVY METAL!!!!!!

Does anyone on this great forum wishes to be involve in a debut low budget feature film?

Author: admin  //  Category: sound engineer london

I am planning to shoot debut low budget feature film in London in the summer of 2007 and am in need of the following. Can anyone help?
1 Scriptwriter.
1 Producer.
2 Camera operators.
1 Sound engineer.
1 Lighting director.
1 Production designer.
1 Costume designer.
1 Editor.
1 Production co-ordinator.
10 Production assistants.

The cast will be assembled at a later date prior to production.

I honestly believe that out there are individuals who are positive and committed enough for this project to work and as such I believe in the power of the internet to attract us all together.

Thanx.
I would even welcome with open arms those with low attention spans as at least they can make the tea and sandwiches, so you see everyone can play a part and will feel welcomed.
I have also made the decision that all those who are interested can email me through this forum.
We all are in need of love.

Not with that grammer I don't.

Ableton and Reason software – know of any tutors/ teachers/ courses in London?

Author: admin  //  Category: sound engineer london

Recently got the software and need to know if there are any studios, sound engineers or colleges that do evening and weekend courses in London (preferably south)?

Firstly, can i just say… wicked job mate! Ableton is an amazing piece of software! I use it on stage with me all the time and I can't fault it.

The london school of sound does courses on both. They do the official certification.

http : / / www.londonschoolofsound.co.uk / al.htm

Have a look at that. You'll need to search on the same site for the Reason course.

Good luck and happy playing!!!

Just saw Opeth@the Roundhouse. Why was the sound soooo very bad?

Author: admin  //  Category: sound engineer london

Just got back from seeing Opeth at the Camden Roundhouse in London and the sound quality was very bad. I was standing by the sound engineers and they were doing such a bad job. Several of the crew were telling them that the bass was too high and feedbacky and even one of the drums wasnt miked correctly. Man the sound quality was poor!! Anyone tell me why the quality was so shoddy?
The show was pretty good. They had a cool VJ thing going on behind them. They were filming it for a DVD so hopefully it sounds better on that!

i have no idea, im sorry to hear that. i saw them last feb in NY and the sound was phenominal. it had the best sound of any show i had ever been too. dont give up on them! maybe next time. other than that, how was the show?

where should i stay in egypt or london?

Author: admin  //  Category: sound engineer london

i am in a college of sound engineering in london and i am from egypt, where should i work after i finesh should i stay here in london or go back to egypt ,in egypt i konw more pepole in the industry even famous people,so if any one knows whats go for me pleas tell me.

I think you should go to Egypt, if you know m ore people in the industry you plan on going into you will probably get furthur than if you go back after staying in London for awhile. Also, since you are from Egypt it might be more comfortable being home (unless you don't like home, if you don't like Egypt then by all means stay in london, lol)
